Moonlit Burgers

Moonlit Burgers is the name that comes up first when Pittsburghers argue about smash burgers. It began as a pandemic-era pop-up, won Pittsburgh Magazine's burger bracket, and topped a big r/pittsburgh reader poll in 2025. The Classic Double is the order: two thin, crusty patties with griddled onion, American cheese, pickles and Moon sauce on a potato roll.

The original shop is on Potomac Avenue in Dormont, and Moonlit has since added locations in Uptown, Sewickley and Garfield, where it took over a former Primanti Bros. space on Penn Avenue in 2026. Wherever you go, keep it simple and let the crispy edges do the work.
