Our Take
South 21 Drive-In is a true curb-service drive-in, and the Independence Boulevard location has been running since 1959. The business was founded by three Greek-immigrant brothers, and it still feels like a slice of mid-century Charlotte.
The order is the Super Boy, a double hamburger with mustard, onions, lettuce, tomato and a pickle held on top with a toothpick. Eat it in your car the old-fashioned way or at one of the outdoor picnic tables. Either way, it is one of the most nostalgic burger stops in the city.
