Tops Bar-B-Q

Tops has been part of Memphis since its first location opened on Macon Road in 1952, and today it has around 18 locations across the Mid-South. It is a barbecue joint by name, but plenty of locals go for the burgers, especially a customizable double cheeseburger or the Fireman burger, which adds Tops' barbecue.

The Summer Avenue location reopened in 2025 after a fire, and it is one of many around the city, so there is almost always one nearby. Try adding barbecue sauce, pickles and jalapeños to your cheeseburger for a very Memphis combination.
