How to eat burgers in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has more burgers per square mile than almost anywhere, but the best ones aren't always the most obvious. The Strip is lined with celebrity-chef restaurants and big-name steakhouses, and several of them serve serious burgers. Some of the most exciting burgers in town, though, are off the Strip, in Chinatown, the Downtown Arts District and the suburbs, where locals actually eat.

It helps to think of Las Vegas in a few zones. The Strip itself, along Las Vegas Boulevard, is where you'll find the high-end steakhouse and resort restaurant burgers. Just east of the Strip, a few casinos serve cheap, late-night burgers to a mostly local crowd. Downtown, around the Plaza and Fremont Street, mixes old-school Vegas glamour with the newer Arts District. Chinatown, along Spring Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard to the west, and the Southwest suburbs round things out. Every spot below also appears in the cards above, and you can browse more in our restaurant directory.

Smash burgers

With Love, Always on West Sunset Road in the Southwest valley is a smash burger counter that began as a pop-up and has become one of the most talked-about burgers in town. It's worth the drive off the Strip. See our best smash burgers page for more picks around the country, and read smash burger vs. regular burger to understand the style.

Steakhouse and Strip burgers

Peter Luger Steak House at Caesars Palace is the Las Vegas outpost of the famous Brooklyn steakhouse, and its Luger Burger is made from more than a half pound of USDA prime dry-aged beef. It's a lunch menu item, so plan accordingly. Spago, Wolfgang Puck's restaurant at Bellagio, has a patio overlooking the Bellagio Fountains and a cheeseburger that ranks among the best on the Strip. Downtown, Oscar's Steakhouse sits inside the Plaza under a glass dome and serves an Angus burger with American cheese, pickles, a creamy house sauce and a thick layer of fried onions. Curious about the beef? Read our guide to dry-aged beef burgers, or browse the best gourmet burgers page.

Creative and over-the-top

Holsteins Shakes and Buns spent about 15 years at the Cosmopolitan before moving to South Main Street in the Downtown Arts District in 2025. It's known for loaded burgers like the Gold Standard, made with a Wagyu brisket and short rib blend, bacon, dry-aged cheddar and chive aioli, plus beef tallow fries and a long list of boozy shakes. Fukuburger in Chinatown began as a food truck and serves American burgers with Japanese flavors.

Cheap and late-night

Village Pub & Cafe at Ellis Island, just east of the Strip on Koval Lane, is a late-night casino cafe with a half-pound cheeseburger and steak fries special. It's a good-value stop after a night out. For more casual classics, see our best classic burgers page.

Local burger traditions

Las Vegas doesn't have a regional burger style of its own, but it does have traditions. The first is the casino special: inexpensive, filling meals served late into the night at off-Strip casinos at places like Ellis Island. The second is the steakhouse burger. With so many top steakhouses in town, the burger is often the most approachable way to try a famous kitchen's beef, and some are served only at lunch or in the bar. Finally, Las Vegas loves old-school glamour, and Oscar's in the Plaza, where a dinner scene in the movie Casino was filmed, is a great place to eat a burger with a side of Vegas history. Tips for visiting

  • Distances on the Strip are longer than they look. Plan to drive or take a rideshare to off-Strip spots like With Love, Always and Fukuburger.
  • Steakhouse burgers are often on the lunch or bar menu only, so check the menu before you go.
  • Many casino restaurants take reservations, and the popular ones fill up on weekends and during big events.
  • Late-night options are easiest to find at off-Strip casinos like Ellis Island.
  • Summer heat is intense, so plan outdoor waits and walks between casinos for the cooler parts of the day.
